You got Mary's hair color right. That's a rarity. So many people depict her as a brunette, but like BOTH of her parents, she was a redhead (...okay, Catherine was a strawberry blonde, but that's close to red).

It is fun to see Henry 8th's children ( minus Henry Fitzroy) hanging out together. This is fantastic I especially love how Mary is holding the Tudor Rose

Love this! I love Elizabeth's red hair, I'm a redhead and love the red-headed queen for all she ever did. It says she had red hair, she wasn't more strawberry blonde at all, research it, she had red hair. Sorry if i sounded catty,i just hate it when people get stuff like this wrong (i saw a comment that had a flaw and sort of got annoyed). Sorry! This is amazing!

It's a really nice piece, but to be historically accurate Mary'd need to have a damn sight more religious crazy (she's not called Flaming Mary because of the hair), and Edward needs to be a whole lot more pale and skinny. Not to mention ill-looking; he basically had bargain-bin lungs and he died horribly of tuberculosis.

Lovely art style, though. Puts me in mind of Disney a bit.

*looks at other stuff* Ah, you're getting all this from the Johnathan Rhys Meyers adaptation. That explains a lot. They're about as historically accurate as a Kipper book is challenging, to be honest, but they're engaging telly.

Yes, it's my imagined Disney version of the Tudors. Disney isn't exactly known for it's accurate retelling of tales, is it? So yes, the children here appear far happier. I know my Tudorology (as I like to call it) as I have done extensive research, and I did not solely base this on Showtime's The Tudors. Cheers.

You make a fair point about Disney (which I also made), but Showtime are merely the American distributors of noted BBC series The Tudors (noted mostly for being enjoyable hokum) and had nothing to do with the production of it at all. It's a bit like saying that Starz made Torchwood when all they did was drop a ton of American actors in to work on Miracle Day and provide the scenery for the (competent) BBC types to do it.

Also, if you're doing Disney versions, you should probably think about giving them an annoying, non-human sidekick for comic relief. Maybe a gargoyle that lost his home after the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

I also think many cross-necklaces were more like plus signs, if you look at some portraits of that time.

No. It might look like that cause of the pearl that's hanging from the bottom. I overestimated the distance between the necklace and the bodice.

Both Mary's parents had red hair. Early portraits of Mary show her with red hair also.

Nice picture with only one flaw: Being half Spanish and having a dark-haired mother; Mary Tudor didn't have red hair. Now that I think about it, Elizabeth was a more of a strawberry blonde but, whatever. It doesn't really matter...

Mary did have red hair, but it darkened as she got older. Her mother had red hair and so did her father. Spanish people in those days weren't the stereo typical dark skinned people.

Most documents written by ambassadors and courtiers has revealed that Mary did indeed have red hair. Her mother, Katherine of Aragon, also had red hair. For one thing, Katherine of Aragon had an English grandmother, and believe it or not, but many Spanish people have red hair. And no, Elizabeth was a redhead because that was one of the main reasons why her paternity wasn't extremely questioned. She had the Tudor Reddish gold hair.

Another wonderful piece! I'm so glad you made Mary a redhead - everyone seems to think she had brown or black hair, and everyone also seems to think she was ugly or hag-like, so I like that you portrayed her the way she really was. :)

Definitely. The more and more I read up on Mary I, the more I am slowly realizing she may have been quite the queen if things had worked out otherwise.
